8 moth before lastest edition of gamma world.... and somewhat around 32 years after release of first gamma world game  :P

Very true. :)

2

Yes, I agree 100%. Untold IS NOT collectible - the farthest thing from it, in fact!  :D

P.P.S. Арт напоминает Gamma World.

Well, honestly, I would be enthusiastic about this game if *I* was the only one playing it. You cannot imagine the amount of time, energy and $$ that we've put into this "little-idea-gone-mad", so I am very excited to talk about it - to pretty much anyone. I certainly hope you check it out - we want folks to look it over and give it a try - that's one of the reasons why ALL the rules and ALL the setting information is for FREE online.  :)

P.S. So far, Google translate is working pretty well, thanks!
P.P.S. Thanks, but I have to say that we had released Untold nearly 8 months before Gamma World came out.  :P We did release Flux Mutations as a way to show that Untold is so flexible that even "card draw" type mechanics can be introduced into the game without breaking it AND to give players the option of playing Untold with a "Gamma World" type flair. ;)

Correct ) Its just not enough room to fine-tune character or provide interresting "loot" with powers from starter alone.... and speaking of fine-tuning, negative UP cards is another thing i'd like to play with as soon as possible...

Righto. ;) You know we have them in print, I assume? http://www.untoldthegame.com/store

Negative UP is coming; they're handled in a special kind of Bane card called a "Disability"; as a matter of fact, there are a few hiding in Flux Mutations: http://www.untoldthegame.com/store/flux-mutations

There's definitely a method to our madness. :D

Just printed out first character deck and some banes and minions... So my first impressoins:

- Cards looks decent even if printed in monochrome, which is good, and cleverly placed on a page which is awesome
- Its actually really handy to keep your character as a deck of cards
- Game mechanics feels pretty fast and obvious, but before a playtest this is only speculation...
- Nice damage sysem, resembling PDQ, but slightly more dramatic in action...
- Minor downfall - tracking damage to minions a little fiddlier than tracking damage to PCs....
- Can't wait for racial starters... (Moar, moar, moar kewl powerz and alternate race cards)

Very glad to hear it! I agree about Minions, but you get used to it after a while (most GM's kinda do that sort of thing anyway, truth be told...)

When you say racial starters, I'm assuming you mean in pdf, correct?

6
So, just to be clear. What products/files should I download/buy to be able to try out the system?
And there is a link to my blog below my avatar (small globe).

That adventure will work. It was not written to use Banes, so you should not need them.
I would also suggest the Primer, or our online primer(s), too: http://www.untoldthegame.com/primer

7
Thanks, ashy, as soon as get my capricious players  :) to try it out, I'll make a review on my blog.

UPDATE: I take it this product is enough for a basic demo adventure?

Cool! Do you have a link to said blog? :)

Yes, but bear in mind what we wrote on the product page:
This product contains the adventure (pdf) and all the Race, Aspect, Power, and Minion cards that the GM will need to run the adventure. However, a GM may want to have a set of Bane cards on hand - just in case bad things happen. Also. players will need to have characters either from the Starter Set, or ones you build from your own decks.

If you're ok with that, then you're good to go!

@ashy
The more I read your posts, the more I'm eager to try the game. I believe there is a free pdf demo of some kind, am I right?

LOL! Well, I have to say that your words make me very happy, Snarls-at-Fleas! :) The Primer is free, yes; you can get it from RPGNow or the Untold site:

http://www.untoldthegame.com/downloads
http://www.rpgnow.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=3500

You can download a free adventure here: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=87313

And if you would like to get the cards that accompany that adventure, you can pay a paltry sum and get them and the adventure in PDF here: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=87645&src=FrontPage

I hope this helps! :D

Whether there will be a translation or not depends on fans who would want to make it popular.
It'd be better if game would be in English, but sold in Moscow. Just in Moscow, not ordering from England. I'd regularly buy it then. Ordering frightens away many players.
lender, you can't be serious. It's sold only in two shops in USA so far.
He, I understand. But if they arrange a deal with Мир Хобби (World of Hobbies shop)...

Ah, gotcha - thanks! Yes, we only have two retailers at the moment, because we only do direct-to-retail sales. We want to try and help the dying FLGS as much as we can, so we're going around the distributor. Sadly, this cuts us out of many stores, as they have exclusive deals with folks like Alliance and Diamond here in the U.S.

Regarding ordering, it would not be from England. You would place the order from us and we ship from New York. :)

I will try and arrange deals with whomever I can, provided I don't have to do anything illegal or immoral. Just post a link...

Thanks for the translations, vsh!

10
Something about agreeing with World of Hobbies???

11

Sorry, Google Translate (GT) is not helping much here either... :(

12
As Leyt mentioned, there is an active community of fan translators, so the game may still end up translated without your consent :)
I find this unlikely because it's a card game; just translating it isn't enough. There should also design and printing.
On the other hand, community help may work with Untold app. Sales will still be low, but translation can be essentially free.

I guess what I mean is that WE might be interested in working with a translator to create a official Russian version of the cards. This way, the design and printing is in our hands and you good people get a version of Untold that you can enjoy. :)

13

Sorry - not getting much here either; something about ordering from Moscow and not England? And then: "I would then buy all regularly. And ordering deters many new players."

Sorry - I don't understand the question/comment/issue, but if someone can translate, I'm more than happy to help!

14
vsh

Sorry; not really following this one... :(

15
I'm talking about translating your messages into Russian; apparently, no one needs it so far.
Translating the game is a bad idea, unless you're ok with very little revenue. The market is tiny and everyone is used to pirate copies.

Good to know; on both fronts!

16
Your English replies i think =). If there would be programms on iphone and ipod, i need to buy it (ipod)  :)).

Ah, thanks! Yes, as I said, the QRC app will be out soon, but honestly, it will do you little good without the game itself. It is mean to supplement the game. However, the Untold app will be different - the ability to play Untold digitally, trade cards, etc...

17

I'm not sure I follow. Are we talking about the translation of the cards themselves here, or my English replies?  :)

18
Can't wait for it!

About cards: Maybe you can use some kind of in-app purchase of sets?

Excellent; we're waiting on some paperwork with Apple to be cleared up at the moment. :(

Hopefully we'll have a full-up app developed in the next year or so that will integrate with the QRC app as the back-end. That's the plan at the moment; everything will be driven by interest of the fans and sales. ;) We're funding this little venture out of our pockets, so....  :P

Good news. Do you have plan to do an android app also?

We do plan to have an android version at some point (I personally use android) but we'll have to see what the market response from the iphone/ipad users (which are the market leaders, of course)...

Indeed it was me and i have learnt about Untold from new releases of Drivethrurpg, which i try to monitor.

Awesome! Thanks so much! I sincerely appreciate it! :D

chronicler,

I'm not completely sure what you mean by e-pub releases, but I'll give it a shot. We are currently releasing a select few of our products as pdf (we just released an adventure a couple of minutes ago, in fact!) but this is mainly as an "entry point" for people to become introduced to the game, try it out for a minor cost and figure out if they like it; then, if they so chose, they are free to purchase the print product (we include a coupon with every pdf for a percentage off the print product).

Being that the game is card-based (thus the CBRPG) I'm not sure that an iBook would work well. We are, however, working on moving the game to the digital space (it's been part of our business plan all along, in fact) and you'll be hearing more about that in the months ahead. We're about to release an iphone/ipad app very soon, in fact, that will store up to 100 Untold characters inside and act as a "digital QRC" (QRC is an abbreviation for "Quick Reference Card", which is the closest thing we have to a "character sheet" - http://www.untoldthegame.com/store/qrc-deck.

Is that what you meant? :D

lender,

I was looking over our Google analytics for the week and adjusting our marketing plan based on the data therein; I noticed a spike in visits from this site. I did not recognize it, so I checked it out. Once I saw it was in Russian, I was very excited and used Google Translate to try and figure out what was going on. I pieced it all together and the rest, as they say, is history!

I do not recall who the initial poster of this thread was (I think Minder) but how did you good people learn about Untold? :D

21
Thank YOU for the interest, Minder! (I sent you a message on Twitter, BTW)...

Actually, we do - the cards that we've release are very generic and they can be used in any setting, and on any character! For instance, take the Powers found in Apoc Amplifications (http://www.untoldthegame.com/store/powers-apoc-amplifications); while we "package" them as Power Cards for the Apoc (i.e. genetic super-soldiers), there are NO rules that say you MUST use them that way. So, if you want to build an old style, 2e Monk character using Untold cards, you can! If you'll notice - all those old familiar abilities are there: Ki Strike, Deflect Missiles, Evasive Guard, etc. All we've done is maybe give them a new name and give them some flavor text that matches our "default" Campaign Setting.

THAT is the beauty of Untold. You get cards and can play pretty much whatever you want! In fact, we have a thread on our forums where fans have submitted new campaigns that you can play with the cards we've already released - everything from Thundaar the Barbarian to Star Wars! All you need to do is ignore the art and the flavor text, but the rules work as written!

This, I think is the one thing that many people do not yet understand about Untold - it's not just another game, or another set of rules, or even another campaign setting - we are giving you the building blocks to play ANY game you can imagine. :) One of my co-creators and fellow Wandering Man, likens Untold to Legos - the cards are like the lego blocks - with them, you can build whatever you want. I may take them and build a boat (i.e. a pirate game, perhaps), while you may take them a build a robot (i.e. a steampunk game, maybe) - so it's all about what you want!

That said, we are releasing some cards that are more generically "fantasy" - like dwarves, elves, etc. There will be other "generic" packs released in the future as well that will allow you to play superheros, mecha, etc. etc...  :)

I hope this answers your question.

22
Lender,

We do sell our print products (which is our main line of products) internationally! We will ship anywhere in the world. We currently have folks in Brazil, Germany and the UK receiving products so your homeland would certainly not be an issue! :D

23
Given vsh's and Snarls-at-Flea's offers to use English, I will give it a try!  :)

First of all, yes, I am not only the publisher, but also one of the authors/creators of Untold. I will try and address each comment or question as I see them, but please bear with me; some of the messages are a little confusing due to Google's translation. If one of you who is fluent in both Russian and English would care to contact me and be willing to act as a translator, that would be excellent. I will try and make it worth your while. :) - ashy [at symbol] untoldthegame [dot symbol] com.

Snarls-at-Fleas: feel free to ask anything you need about the rules. If you understand English, we also have some videos up in our online Primer: http://www.untoldthegame.com/primer - I will do whatever I can to help you understand the game and the rules better. :)

Lender: it seems if you are asking if the world is limited to merely what is on the maps. The answer is no. We're expanding the world all the time and the map will change to match that expansion. Also, there are two additional worlds (Ai and the Great Machine) that we've not even begun to explore yet! :)  Also, our concept is like a living card game, but not the same. With Untold, we wanted to put the power back into the gamer's hands. There's nothing you HAVE to buy or collect. You only purchase what you WANT and need to play YOUR game - this is another reason why we list all the contents of the decks - we want you to know what you're buying. :)

I hope this helps. I'm not sure if there were other questions, but if so - please restate them and I will be happy to answer! Thanks again for this; I'm really enjoying talking with you all! :D
